MALIK Fraternity Joins National Multicultural Greek Council
OCTOBER 11, 2023 — The National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC) is thrilled to announce the addition of our 12th organization on our council, MALIK Fraternity, Inc.
“MALIK displays their commitment to the vision of multiculturalism set forth by our member organization through the African and Latino Diaspora,” said NMGC President Crystal Henry. “We are excited to see the contributions and collaboration MALIK Fraternity will have within our council. MALIK Fraternity is the second organization that we have added to our council within the last year, and we hope to continue to be a home for organizations with an outstanding commitment to the community.”
MALIK Fraternity, Inc. (“MALIK”) was founded on May 13, 1977, at the CW Post Campus of Long Island University as the first collegiate fraternity founded on the concept of African Fraternalism. MALIK was created to empower people of the African and Latino Diaspora through initiatives that promote cultural awareness, health and wellness, educational advancement, economic empowerment, professional development, leadership, social responsibility, social justice, and community service.

“NMGC has such a rich history of celebrating cultural pride. As an African and Latino fraternity, and the first collegiate fraternity founded on the concept of African Fraternalism, celebrating cultural pride is woven into the very DNA of MALIK Fraternity, Inc. Joining the NMGC aligns directly with our fraternity’s 12-year strategic plan, MALIK Vision 2033, which includes national expansion. This feat was years in the making and would not have been possible without the unwavering leadership of National Vice President Shawuki Hilton. Our fraternity and administration are so fortunate to have him within our ranks. We are really looking forward to partnering with fellow member organizations, building lifelong bonds, and helping the NMGC execute its strategic initiatives.”

The National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC) is an umbrella council for a coalition of Multicultural Greek letter organizations (MGLOs) established in 1998. The purpose of NMGC is to provide a forum that allows for the free exchange of ideas, programs, and services between its constituent fraternities and sororities; to promote the awareness of multicultural diversity within collegiate institutions, their surrounding communities, and the greater community at large, and to support and promote the works of its member organizations.
