RELEASE: NMGC Announces New Board Members and Recognizes 2018 Award Recipients

Following a successful Annual Conference and Summer Business Meeting attended by representatives from our member organizations in Tallahassee, Florida earlier this month, the National Multicultural Greek Council has elected a new President and Secretary to serve for the 2018-2020 term. During the Conference, awards recipients from among the member organizations were also recognized for their valuable contributions to their communities, their unwavering commitment to the growth of multicultural Greek life, and to promoting the mission and living the values of the NMGC.

“As a community activist, I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the Council members to build a stronger structure together and to see us thrive within a culture of mutual aid and support where we act in solidarity, love deeply and intently, and care radically for our communities,” said incoming NMGC President Jessica Peñaranda. “I want to thank Victoria Valdez and Natasia Bongcas for everything they did as President and Secretary of the NMGC, acknowledge the work of the entire NMGC Eboard, and thank the NMGC member organizations for placing the literal vote of confidence they cast in my favor. I look forward to standing alongside the members of the multicultural Greek community as we work to cultivate the NMGC’s mission and promote multiculturalism by advocating for justice and equity, cultivating interfraternal relationships, and empowering our member organizations.”

The National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC) is an umbrella council for a coalition of Multicultural Greek-Letter Organizations (MGLOs), established in 1998. The purpose of NMGC is to provide a forum that allows for the free exchange of ideas, programs, and services between its constituent fraternities and sororities; to promote the awareness of multicultural diversity within collegiate institutions, their surrounding communities, and the greater community-at-large, and to support and promote the works of its member organizations.
